Dean Freeman

Photographer and Director Dean Freeman was born to be behind the camera, his mother was a fashion model and his father Robert Freeman a famous photographer who notoriously shot the first five album covers for The Beatles and the first Pirelli calendar in 1964 as well as regularly photographing numerous personal friends like Mohammed Ali, Andy Warhol, Sophia Loren and Marianne Faithful.
Dean picked up the camera at a young age and soon developed his own intimate portraiture style capturing raw non-biased footage of his friends that evoked a sense of spontaneity and depth of character. These led on to him being commissioned to capture a host of celebrities starting out as official photographer to the Spice Girls and their book ‘Forever Spice’ as well as shooting icons such as Katy Perry, David Beckham, Michael Buble, Olly Murs, Kelly Brook and George Michael to mention just a few. Over the years Dean has shot numerous imagery for publications and editorial commissions.
As well as his illustrious career as a photographer, Dean has also made a successful transition to shooting moving image and has brought his signature unabashed narrative led portraiture style to a number of advertising campaigns for clients such as Axis Bank, Avon, Lenor, Calvin Klein, Dove and Garnier.
Dean often combines his skills as commercial director and photographer on multi-platform campaigns featuring high profile celebrities as can be seen with his work for Häagen-Dazs featuring Bradley Cooper.
Inspired by his travels and the characters he meets along the way, Dean likes to continually develop and hone his style regularly shooting personal projects his most recent being his ‘Movement for Movement’ poetic series and his Thai boxing short film entitled ‘Make Her Story’.
