PORTRAIT OF BRITAIN AWARD

Our Director/Photographer Harry George Hall is among the winners at the prestigious ‘Portrait of Britain’ awards. Portrait of Britain is one of the largest exhibitions of contemporary portrait photography ever held, as much a celebration of photography as it is a celebration of the diversity of our country’s people.

The public will encounter the winning photographs as they go about their daily lives; in rail stations, shopping malls, high streets, and airports across the United Kingdom. In fact they can be seen on Oxford Street and across many London sites already.

Following an open call by British Journal of Photography earlier this year, the panel of judges had the task of selecting 200 shortlisted images to be featured in the Portrait of Britain Book Vol.2, published by Hoxton Mini Press and from this selection, 100 winning images were chosen to be displayed on JCDecaux screens throughout all of September. Harry’s winning photo from his personal project ‘Suffolk Skydancers’was selected as one of national winners.

Harry says: “Choosing to enter the portrait of Britain was easy. Every photographer wants to be part of this. In my personal work, I love observing the great british public and when entry opened I knew exactly which project would be suitable. It’s easy to get distracted by London and the way we live there; I grew up in the Suffolk countryside and wanted to celebrate the people there with this work. Britain is bursting with people doing wonderful and diverse things, I wanted to be part of illustrating that.”
